How to Measure Bra Size?

Measuring your bra size doesn't require you to be a scholar or mathematician. Follow these simple steps to find your correct size.

Step 1

Calculate band size

  • Wrap the measuring tape snugly under your bust or ribcage.
  • Round the number obtained to the nearest whole number. If the number is even, add 4 inches; if it is odd, add 5.
  • This is the band size of your bra.
Example: 26.4 inches will round off to 26 and 26 + 4 = 30.
Calculate band size
Step 2

Calculate Bust Size

  • Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust.
  • Make sure it is not too tight or too loose and without any folds or twists.
  • Round off the number to the nearest whole number.
Example: If your bust measurement is 27.4 inches, round it to 27 inches.
Calculate Bust Size
Step 3

Calculate the Difference

  • Now, subtract the band size calculated earlier from the bust measurement.
  • If the difference between band and bust measurement is 1, your cup size is A. If the difference is 2, your cup size is B, and so on.
Example: Bust = 27 inches, Band = 24 inches, 27 - 24 = 3 inches.
Calculate the Difference
Step 4

Find Your Perfect Fit

  • Use your calculated band and cup size to choose your recommended bra size.
  • Use the size chart below as a guide and check the fit before making your final choice.
Example: If your calculated band is 30 and your cup difference is 3, use the size chart to find the corresponding 30C size.

It may include a little hassle, but you need a string and a ruler for bra measurement with a measuring tape. Simply calculate your bust size and band size, but using the string. Then, measure them against a ruler and calculate the difference to determine your size. However, we strongly recommend that you use a soft measuring tape.

It's a good idea to re-measure every 6-12 months, or after significant weight change, pregnancy, or surgery.

  • Note 1: Your hormones change your bust size throughout the month, such as your bust size may increase near the menstrual cycle.

If you get an uneven size, i.e., are in between, go a size up, or you could try its sizes.

The number (32, 34, 36, etc.) in your bra size represents your band size, and the letter (A, B, C, D, DD, etc.) is for the cup size.

Your cup size is the difference between your chest size and your bust line measurement, while your bra size is your band size with your cup size.

  • There should be enough space to let 2 fingers pass through your bra straps.
  • The back band should lie straight on the back without riding up.
  • The centre gore should sit flat against your sternum.
  • The underwires should fully encircle the breasts.
  • Your breasts shouldn't spill out of the cups, and the cups shouldn't have extra room either.

You can put yourself at risk for a plethora of problems, such as:

  • Pain and discomfort in the breast tissues.
  • Straps start digging into your shoulders.
  • Back, neck and headache.
  • Bad posture.
  • Your bra hinders your movement.
